Following a series of discussions with companies that have supported our initiative (and we thank them for their support!), we've managed to gather a series of lessons learn that we can share that are sumarized below:
Start using a CDE (Common Data Environment) to create a single source of truth for your projects!
Clearly define and state the communication path (including escalations)!
"The better is the enemy of the good" always do what is required, not what you think that is required! For this, you'll need clear requirements. Always define them clearly and in writing!
Define, use and enforce naming conventions for all project related documents!
Define a clear information flow within the project!
Always collaborate, never compete with your colleagues!
Be curious to find new ways of improving the process and share your findings with your colleagues!
Make sure to focus on finding the solution to the problem at hand and avoid blaming!
For fast BIM implementation, ask a consultant BUT only after you have the team ready to work with them!
